EXCELLENCE

One of the most common traits among many people is mediocrity. Not many strive for excellence no more. Many settle for less of God’s best for their lives. You need to understand that God didn’t create you so you can just live by, you were created to be excellent and distinct wherever you are found. One of the things that set Daniel apart and made him a go-to person in his time was the excellent spirit upon him.

Excellence connotes quality, superiority, brilliance, fineness and distinction. As believers, excellence ought to be our watchword. The scripture says how excellent is Your name O Lord? God is so excellent that even His name radiates excellence and Gen 1:27 says, “God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him.” In order words we need to have it at the back of our minds that we are God’s representatives here on earth and as such excellence should be our second names.

Believers should be the neatest, most truthful, most law abiding and honest set of people on earth because we are walking excellence. We should not be found littering the environment with dirt. We should not be seen driving against traffic no matter how much of a hurry we are in. We should not be part of those who resume work 9am yet sign 8am. We should not be heard calling in sick at work just because we have a job interview to attend. We should not be heard saying “white lie.” Lie is lie whether black, blue, yellow or grey, and God (the One whose image you are CANNOT lie).

Excellent people do what is right whether someone is watching or not because they understand that they are represent God here on earth. As a believer, let your light of excellence so shine that men may then glorify your God in heaven. We should be the best in our chosen field of endeavors because we are created to be the head and not the tail.
