DELAYED GRATIFICATION

September 6, 2014

We live in a world of show off. We live in a world where if you are not living in so and so area or driving such and such car, or wearing so and so type of dress you are seen as wretched. This mentality has so much driven many people into debt. Unfortunately, most times the people you think you are trying to impress don’t even give a damn about you – live your life. Do your dream. Focus on your future.

Delayed gratification is the ability to resist the temptation for an immediate reward and wait for a later reward or resisting a smaller but more immediate reward in order to receive a larger or more enduring reward. In the kingdom of God, many find it hard to delay immediate gratification which is why they are always frustrated, confused and disappointed. Many in relationship cannot resist pre-marital sex forgetting that marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge (Heb 13:4).

Someone said so many people buy what they do not need to impress the people who do not care about them. May I tell you sir that a bigger car doesn’t mean a bigger or brighter future neither does a bigger television magnify your vision, in most cases, it cripples one’s vision. The size of your wrist watch DOESN’T tell us the size of your vision. One trait common to great people is that they have the ability to say, “NO” to certain things today because they know they will have much more tomorrow.

Let me ask you, what is your dream, simply put, what vision do you have for your life and what are you willing to give to make your dream come to pass? Invest in your today so that you can have a brighter and better tomorrow. Be hardworking, focused and prayerful.

See you at the top!
