I know someone who told me some years ago he would
love to start a certain business. It’s almost five years now and this person is
still planning. You hear them every day. People at work, in the bus, in the
church grumbling about their lot and talking about their dreams: 'I want to
lose weight', 'I wish I could retrain', 'I want to start my own business'. A
funny adage says, “If it takes 20 years to prepare for madness, how many years
would it now take to truly showcase the madness.” Many of us are good talkers
but very bad doers.
Even speakers have to start speaking before being
regarded as a speaker. You have talked long enough, it is high time you started
doing something. Prov 14:23 says, “In all labour there is profit: but the talk
of the lips [tendeth] only to penury.” Of course, it’s right and natural to
have fears, but understanding them will keep you on top. And then you’ll find
that starting can instantly make things change. So say farewell to the status quo.
Simply start somewhere. Anywhere. But do it now.
SIR RANULPH FIENNES OBE, The World’s Greatest Living
Explorer, said, “To achieve anything in life you have to start somewhere, be it
writing a book, starting a business or climbing a mountain.” Hear this, “Doing
what needs to be done may not make you happy, but it will make you great.”
Start now!
