God’s word is
a representation of who God is. The Psalmist in Psalm 138:2 says, “I will
worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy loving kindness and
for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” Whatever
God says, He would do.
In the book
of Mark 4:35-41, Jesus told the disciples, “Let us pass over unto the other
side.” However, suddenly in verse 37, there arose a great storm of wind, and
the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. At this point the
disciples were terrified, but the scripture puts it that Jesus was in the
hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow. When the disciples couldn’t take
it anymore, they woke Him up, and He rebuked the storm.
Jesus felt
disappointed in the disciples, He said, “Why are ye so fearful? How is it that
ye have no faith?” In order words, “what I said was, let us pass over unto the
other side, I never said there won’t be storm, sharks, snakes and all, but it
doesn’t matter what happens on the road, we are going to the other side. Why
can’t you trust my word, more so, I am in the boat too.”
Someone said,
God would show you where you are going, but will not show you what you will
encounter, your job is to hold on tight to the promise you have from Him
because that is the only thing that would keep you going. After all, the Bible
says in Isa 43:2 that, “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with
thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest
through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon
thee.”
Never lose
sight of what the Master of the universe has told you as that’s the oil that
makes the journey of life smooth and interesting.
