AN ENCOUNTER WITH JESUS

November 5, 2013

In Mark 5:1-20, we read of the story of certain mad man. to everyone that knew the man, he was as useless as the word useless. To make matters worse, his natural name was forgotten and people started calling him. “The mad man of Gadarenes.” How funny and how easy it is for people to call you by the name of your predicament.

However, when the man encountered Jesus, his story changed. People saw him and were afraid. The most amazing part of that story is in verse 20, Bible says, “And he (the former mad man) departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.” The onetime mad man became a great evangelist.

In John 5:1-15, there was a man (still no one knew his name) who was called the man with 38 years infirmity. He was useless for himself and for his community. He had no one to help him into the healing pool. To make matters worse for this man, only one person can be healed at a certain season (maybe daily, weekly or monthly – no one knows).

However, when this man encountered the Master of the universe, protocols were broken and his story changed. Bible says in verse 15 that the man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole. He became a proclaimer of the gospel of Christ.

An encounter with Jesus is an encounter that takes you from the pit to the top. It is an encounter that changes your name from “that guy that borrows” to “Henry Aderibigbe that lends unto nations.” It changes you completely. Your past gets forgotten immediately. Your look changes totally.

It doesn’t matter how terrible or sad your situation is, I don’t care how unpleasant it is, today you shall have an encounter with Jesus that would make your testimony a soul winning message for the lost in Jesus Name. Amen!
