In Matt 7:12, the scriptures says, “So, in
everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up
the law and the prophets.” (NIV) This is what we were taught as the golden
rule. This rule serves as a perfect summary of the kind of righteousness the
kingdom of heaven expects in respect to MAN’S RELATION TO MAN. It is very easy
to be good to those who treat us right, but to treat those who treat us wrongly
right is quite difficult, which is what Christ said we should do.
In Luke 23:34, when Jesus was been crucified
wrongly, He still prayed for them that the Father should forgive them. You
would agree with me that He had every power to call forth fire to consume all
those treating Him wrongly, but the ministry of Christ is the ministry of love
which is why the scripture says in Luke 6:35a that, “But love ye your enemies.”
If you want to be loved, love your friends, families and enemies inclusive.
You are not a believer because you now speak in
tongues only, you are a believer because you also treat people the way you want
them treat you. Luke 6:28 says, “Bless them that curse you, and pray for them
which despitefully use you.” Someone would ask, why should I bless someone that
is cursing me and pray for the one treating me like some piece of shit? You
should because it is the commandment of the Lord and disobedience is like the
sin of witchcraft.
Before you act or react, always ask yourself, “How
would I feel if another person should treat me this same way?” Put yourself in
the shoes of others and imagine what it would be like been treated despitefully.
When you treat people with respect and honor, you will also be accorded respect
and honor because whatever you sow, you shall reap.
Enjoy!
