How many times have you heard “That’s good enough?”
or how many times have you said “That’s not a bad one, it’s good enough.” Some
of us including myself say it a lot, but I have come to realize that it’s a
statement that limits because Christ said He came so that we might have life,
and that we might have it more abundantly.
Someone asked me why do I always say “I am doing
better than good,” when asked, “How are you doing?” My response was, “Good
enough is good, but better is better”. Elisha
understood the concept of not settling for good enough when he demanded for
double portion of Elijah’s anointing. Good enough never stretches us to do
anything more than we are doing right now, because this is good enough.
Philippians 3:14 says, “I press on to reach the end
of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus,
is calling us.” To anyone that has ever participated in any type of competition
you know that everyone does not get the prize. You have to decide that you want
it and train for it. You have to stretch and go a little further, do a little
more. Don’t allow the fear of failure or disappointment deter you from going
for the better then the best.
Joel Osteen said, “You have let good enough to be
good enough for long enough.” Don’t settle for anything less of God’s best. You
are God’s best and you deserve nothing short of the best. I understand you are
doing good presently, but believe me there is no crime in doing better than you
are doing today. As much as driving is good, flying is better. As much as
winning one soul is good, winning ten is better.
Always remember that everyone else is doing good, if
you want to stand out, you need to be better than others.
