Many times in our lives, we are faced with
difficulties that sometimes makes us wonder if God is still on the throne,
however, my discovery is that inbuilt in every adversity is a vast and unimaginable
opportunity for progress, promotion, elevation and all. The bitter truth is
that one man’s poison is another’s man dinner. One of my mentors would always
say, “When faced with adversity, never ask why me, always ask, Lord, what is in
it?”
When the children of Israel were faced with such a
great adversity in person – Goliath, they were disturbed. Bible says in 1 Sam
17:11 that “When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they
were dismayed, and greatly afraid.” It was such a terrible case that no one
dared say a word to Goliath. However, it was an opportunity for David to climb
the ladder of greatness. Bible says when the battle was over, more respect was
accorded to David than to Saul.
Someone said adversity is actually man’s biggest and
greatest opportunity. Henry David Thoreau said, “All misfortune is but a
stepping stone to fortune.” It took a very terrible adversity in the
form of famine for Joseph to become very wealthy. When others were complaining
of hunger, he was busy selling foods in exchange for lands, money, material
things etc.
No matter what you are going through, always
understand that all things (adversity inclusive) works together for the good of
those that love God and that are called according to His good and great
purpose. As a matter of fact, Pro 24:10 says, “If thou faint in the day of adversity,
thy strength is small.”
Always remember that little minds are tamed and
subdued by adversity, but great minds rise above them. Times of great
calamity and adversity have ever been productive of the greatest minds. The
purest ore is produced from the hottest furnace.
You will not miss your time of opportunity in Jesus
Name. Amen!
