A.S.K.

June 17, 2014

Countless number of times, I have seen people suffering and going through trying times and when told to keep on praying, their response is always, “I have been praying all these while, so God knows already.” As much as I tend to agree with those people that God knows already, I also am from the school of thought that says that even though God knows already, you still have to keep talking about it.

Matt 7:7 says “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (KJV) The New Living Translation puts it that, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Coincidentally ask, seek and knock command is an acronym for ASK which means God is very interested in you saying what you want.

James 4c: says, “You do not have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.” (NLT) To stress the importance of men opening their mouth to ask, Bible says when BLIND BARTIMAEUS saw Jesus, he started shouting, “Jesus, have mercy on me.” Some people told him, “Blind an, keep shut, he’s not hearing you,” yet the man kept shouting. Finally when Jesus’s attention shifted to him, the Master still asked him, “Blind man, what do you want?” Little wonder the scripture says in Num 14:28b, “As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very things I heard you say.” (NLT)

A Nigerian adage says, “He who keeps quiet, no one would get to know what is wrong with him.” You have a Father that answers by fire, so never ever keep quiet because you are tired of asking or it seems nothing is happening, keep on asking and seeking and knocking because one day someday soon, your prayers would receive the attention of heaven.
