FINANCIAL PRUDENCE

March 30, 2013

Most times as believers and Christians, we go about asking God to bring money from all angles like the same way He brought money out of the mouth of a fish, however, we realize that praying such prayers sometimes do not yield any result.

God is interested in your financial prosperity but you must understand that you have a lot to do. Prosperity answers to prudency. It is not a function of what you have or earn but a function of what you do with what you earn. When you lack financial discipline, you become covetous, and later become a thief.

If you are faithful with little, you will get more. It is a principle that most of us do not live by, and as such we are limiting ourselves from becoming that financial pillar that God has made us to be. You cannot trust your money, you cannot count on your money, but you must be able to count your money. If you are not accountable, you cannot be dependable.

Develop a saving culture. No amount is too small to start with. Save something from every income you get. Brick upon brick, the house gets built. Little by little, your savings become big someday. In Genesis 41 and 42, Joseph’s saving plan saved the land of Egypt.

Also, establish financial priorities. A man got a big break and suddenly started parading cars, rented an apartment in a high class environment etc. He forgot that money has wings, and suddenly, the money he thought he had flew away. Today, he is as miserable as the word miserable.

Some of us are buyers of anything. When small money comes, that’s when we remember that Bold 2 is too cheap for our class and then we buy Bold 5, and then we start counting down to when salary will be paid or when one miracle will happen.  1Tim6:6 says “Now godliness and contentment is great gain.”

As you decide to be more accountable for your finances, you shall unending financial blessings in Jesus Name. Amen!
