We live in a world of broken promises. Marriages end over trivial
disputes. Business relationships of ten years get messed up within few minutes
over one party’s misdeed. People wag their fingers and say “I didn’t” knowing
full well that they did. Promises get changed when you err.
In this world of ceaseless change, God is the only constant. The Marine
Corps motto is Semper Fidelis (or shortened to Semper Fi_ meaning Always
Faithful. My question is how many people do you know who do exactly what they
say? Maybe I should ask it this way, how many people do you know who do exactly
what they say every single time and do it with an uncommon thoroughness and
perfection that you can go just go sleep knowing that what they have said will
be done irrespective of how they feel about you?
The only person I know who is 100% faithful 100% of the time is the
Almighty God. Numbers 23:19 says that “God is not a man that should lie, nor a
son of man, that He should repent of his mind; does he speak and then not act? Does
He promise and not fulfill?” He keeps His words despite who you are or what you
have done because if He didn’t, He wouldn’t be God.
God says what He means and means what He says and therefore does
everything He says He will do. He does not forget, falter, or vacillate. If He
says it, you can stake your life on it. He keeps every promise made. Have you
taken time to dig out wonderful promises of God from His word, if you haven’t, I
will suggest you do to avoid robbing yourself of the great benefits God has in
stock for you.
A missionary was forced to flee Yangcheng in China, taking with her
100 orphans. As she led the orphans into the mountains, she doubted the
possibility of ever making it to safety, but a 13 year old girl reminded her of
Moses and the parting of the red sea. “I am not Moses” the missionary replied. “Yes
I know ma, but Jehovah is still God.”
That you are unfaithful does not make God unfaithful. That you change
does not change His promises concerning you. He is God and He does not change.
My prayer is that God will teach us all to trust even when we cannot
see in Jesus Name. Amen!
