The person you table your case before determines the
kind of response you would get, because our capacity to help differs as humans.
When you table a request of ten thousand dollars before someone whose net worth
is just some hundreds of dollars, you are assured your request can never be
met. As believers, to avoid disappointment, we need to understand that God is
the only one to turn to for help.
In Isa 38, Bible says, “In those days was Hezekiah
sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said
unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die,
and not live.” A Yoruba parlance says, “There is nobody who would hear the day
of his death and not be sad.” The king immediately knew that the best thing to do
was to go to God in prayer. He prayed to God and in verses 4&5, “Then came
the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying, Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the
LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy
tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.”
If Hezekiah had tabled his request before prophet
Isaiah, maybe he would never have gotten the additional fifteen years he got,
but he went to God knowing full well that, with God nothing shall be
impossible. Who you go to in times of distress and challenges determines what
you come back with. In Matt 17, a certain man brought his lunatic son to Jesus
and told him, “I already brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure
him.” But when the case came before Jesus, it received immediate attention. Psa
121:1&2 says, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh
my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”
Man’s help is limited, but when God helps you, you
become helpers of men. Receive divine help today in Jesus Name. Amen!
