An accused person would always be confident he would
win in the court of law, as long as he is sure that he didn’t commit the
offence. When we were younger and something got stolen, the owner of the item
would start threatening to take the case to an herbalist. But if you were
certain you didn’t steal it, you would tell the owner of the stolen item to
take you to anywhere. Confidence has its root in some few things.
Prov 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no man
pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.” Our confidence in Christ is
rooted in our righteousness. However, many believers are still being haunted by
their past sins, and as a result of this, whenever they face any little
challenge, their hymn is, “I am suffering the punishment of my sins.” As long
as you have confessed your sins and repented, your past is no longer relevant.
Come to think of it, if God decides to mark iniquities, who shall stand? Be
righteousness conscious all the time. Always tell yourself, “I am the
righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.”
The presence of God is also a source of confidence
for believers. Jesus promised us in Matt 28:20 that, “I am with you always,
even unto the end of the world. Amen.” King David said in Psa 23:4, “Yea,
though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Walking through
the valley of the shadow of death is like walking through a cemetery in the
middle of the night, but David said, he could walk through that fearful
location because of the presence of God with him. Dr. T.L. Osborn said, “You
and God make an unbeatable team.”
No matter what you are going through, never let go
of your confidence in Christ, because it is the visa that guarantees victory.
