One of the most natural instincts of a man is pride.
When a person is still struggling and trying to make ends meet, he/she becomes
so meek and respectful, but the moment he/she gets some little coins, it takes
the grace of God for that same person to maintain that attitude of respect. A
Yoruba parlance says, “Until you have money, you haven’t really shown your own
real behavior.” Humans are so funny that the moment their status changes a bit,
their shoulder gets lifted as well. Most of us have forgotten that pride begets
fall.
Moses went to Pharaoh to demand the release of the
children of Israel to go and worship the Lord, he answered in Exo 5:2, “Who is
the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD,
neither will I let Israel go.” When the Lord of host was done with him, he
became a forgotten entity. Jer 50:31-32 says, “Behold, I am against thee, O
thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time
that I will visit thee. And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none
shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour
all round about him.”
I urge you, no matter what you have or the height
you have gotten to, please be humble, because God resisteth the proud, but
giveth grace unto the humble. I was amazed when I saw RCCG General Overseer,
bending while shaking hands with his subordinates. So many believers with few
ten millions find it hard to even greet their subordinates talkless their
superiors. Prov 21:4 says, “An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of
the wicked, is sin.” “Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the
LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.” (Prov 16:5)
Repent and restitute today, tomorrow might be too
late.
