DON’T BLEND IN

March 4, 2014

It is a proven fact that majority, many times, is a group of highly motivated crawlers. The fact that a million learned professors say something foolish doesn’t make it sensible – it is still foolish. The problem with many people is that they prefer to live their life the way others want it lived rather than live it the way they choose to live it.

As Christians, we are not made to blend in; we were created to stand out. 1 Pet 2:9 says, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” There is something different about you and that is your own uniqueness.

The day a fish starts trying to behave like a pig just so it could blend in, that day it becomes a recipe for pepper soup. There should be something different about you. In Mark 6, it is a custom that teachings take place in the synagogue on the Sabbath day, however, on the day Jesus taught, many who heard Him became so astonished that hey said, “what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?”

Had Jesus tried speaking like John the Baptist, He would never have stood out. Don’t let the opinions of majority persuade or dissuade you, let your belief be your motivating factor. David refused to blend in when he went to fight Goliath with just a sling and a stone. Be a pioneer and don’t blend in – stand out tall.

Be real; be yourself. Don’t try to become someone else; that is like committing suicide. One advice I got sometimes ago and that has been a great one for me is; “Never take direction for your personal life from the crowd and never choose to discontinue just because someone disagrees with you.”
