CONFESSION

March 27, 2014

Sometimes multitudes suffer because of one person’s iniquity. When the leader of an organization is not competent and he/she is too proud to say it out, the organization and the entire workforce would pay for it. Sometimes the reason why an entire family lineage is going through an unpleasant situation might be that one of them had done something terribly wrong and yet to confess.

In the book of Joshua 7, the children of Israel went to war against a city called Ai. However, thirty six men from Israel’s camp lost their lives and the other men fled. Bible says this made the heart of the other people melt. This was strange for Joshua so he went to inquire from God what led to that horrible scenario. In verse 11, God told Joshua Israel had sinned which was why they found it hard to stand before their enemies. Unknown to Joshua, the sin of just one man called Achan was why 36 other souls were killed.

As if that was not enough, as written in Exo 34:7 that, “The Lord is the one visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.” Achan’s sons, daughters, oxen, asses, sheep, tent and his lineage became wiped off the surface of the earth. Rom 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death.” Rom 10:10 says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Until you confess, distress won’t cease.

What sin(s) are you trying to cover up? Have you forgotten that God is the one that sees all and knows all? Achan would have covered up and lied but he knew God was aware already. Listen, He is aware you sinned, He only wants you to ask for forgiveness. In the kingdom of God, without confession, no progression. Prov 28:13 says, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

Be wise!
