PROVOKING DIVINE BLESSINGS

January 13, 2014

Things don’t just happen, someone must make them happen. People don’t just get salaries, they must work for it. Divine blessing is something that the recipient must provoke into existence by doing something. One of the things to be done is the act of giving or sowing.

In Gen 27, Bible says Isaac was very old and he thought of blessing Esau which he could just have done by calling the young man inside and blessing him. Rather, he demanded that Esau should sow by making him a savory meat. In order words, my blessing is not free of charge; you have to do something to get it. That’s man, how much God.

In 1 Kings 3, Bible says that King Solomon sacrificed one thousand burnt offerings upon the altar for God, when God saw this great act of sowing; He came down and gave Solomon a blank Cheque. As a result of that encounter, 1 Kings 10:23-24 says, “So King Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom. And all the earth sought to Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.”

If you want to be blessed of God, then you have to be an unrepentant radical giver/sower. We all sing the song, give, it will come back to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, but we hardly do. Sir, God is not a beggar, He deserves the best. As a matter of fact, if you want the best from God, you must give Him the best. Remember that only the blessing of the Lord makes rich without adding any sorrow or regret to it.

If you think very well, you would realize that God owns it all at first and you are just a custodian – the earth is the Lord’s and its fullness. I pray for you that your acts of giving in this year would open you up to a generational flow of divine blessing in Jesus Name. Amen!
