1 Tim 4:7-8 says,
“But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all
things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”
Businesses that
don’t bring in profit end up in the dump yard because the only way their employees
can be paid and materials bought are from the profit made. For any child of God
that wants to profit in the kingdom of his/her father, then godliness must be
your watchword. Godliness means having great reverence for God.
In Gen 17, God
told Father Abraham, “I would like to make you great and multiply you and
profit you, but on one condition – walk before me perfectly.” In order words,
embrace godliness. He did and the Bible records it that he was exceedingly
great and God blessed all that he had.
Prov 14:34 says,
“Righteousness (godliness) exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any
people.” Godliness promotes you. Remember that promotion does not come from man
but from God (Psa 75:6-7). This was the understanding that my uncle Joseph had
that made him refuse to have carnal knowledge of Potiphar’s wife. If he, he
would have remained a respected servant. But because of godliness, he was
lifted even above the number one man of the land.
Ecc 10:15 says
that the labor of a fool wearieth him. Who is a fool? Psa 14:1 says, “The fool
hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done
abominable works, there is none that doeth good.” In order words, the second
name for an ungodly person is fool and Pro 3:35 says “The wise shall inherit
glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.”
2 Chron 26:5 says
as long as Uzziah sought the LORD, God made him to prosper. Embrace godliness
in 2014 so you can become profitable and prosperous.
