HIS PROMISES FAILETH NOT

January 7, 2014

A promise is a commitment by someone to do or not do something. The promises of God are ever standing no matter what. Bible says in 2 Pet 3:9 that, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness.”

In Gen 15, God told father Abraham that as the stars of the sky were, so shall his seed be. Gen 15:6 says he believed and it was counted unto him for righteousness. However, the scripture says that hope delayed makes the heart sick. In Gen 17, God appeared to him again to remind him of His promises, but Abraham felt it was late.

Bible says in Gen 17:17 that, “Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?” Because of the delay in the fulfilment of the promise, he had lost hope which made it hard for him to even believe God again.

It was so bad that when Sarah heard God telling her husband, “I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life, and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son.” She laughed within herself, saying, “Please, God, let’s forget that topic, just keep Ishmael safe for us.” But because God had promised them a child, whether Sarah laughed in disbelief or not, Isaac came through Sarah.

Sir, God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? It doesn’t matter how many years you have been holding on to God’s promises for your life, keep on holding on because the time of delivery is now.

I pray for you that whatever is delaying the delivery of the promises of God concerning your life is hereby removed in Jesus Name. Amen!
