There is a folktale about tortoise and turtle
competing for who would marry the daughter of the king of the land. Winner must
bring to the king a white garment from the chief priest of the land. Quickly the
tortoise took a shortcut to the chief priest’s shrine, on getting there, he met
them feasting, so he joined and started eating.
Later, the turtle got there and saw them partying
but went directly to the chief priest to tell him why he was there. He got the
white garment, asked for take away pack (my guess though) and left. After
eating, the tortoise went to tell the chief priest why he was there only to
realize that he has been outsmarted. The turtle became the king’s in-law.
In Gen 24, Abraham asked his oldest servant to go
get a wife for Isaac. When the servant finally found someone and he was brought
into her father’s house, Bible says in Gen 24:33 that, “And there was set meat
before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine errand.
And he said, Speak on.” At the end of the day, he got a wife for Isaac, got a
place to sleep, food to eat and servants to feed his camels.
Ecc 9:11 says, “I returned, and saw under the sun,
that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet
bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to
men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.” For every great man I
know of, prioritization is a skill they have. They don’t do tomorrow what needs
to be done today.
Whatever you need to do, go do it, stop wasting away
your time as you are indirectly wasting away your life. A lot of people are
also working at getting what you also want to get. May you be disciplined
enough to emerge a winner always in Jesus Name. Amen!
