One of the weapons that a believer can use in
defeating the devil faster and more efficiently is the weapon of genuine,
heart-felt praise, not just lip service or a method being tried to see if it
would work.
2 Cor 10:4-5 says, “For the weapons of our warfare are
not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting
down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the
knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of
Christ.” One of these weapons is praise because it is a mighty weapon of
warfare that breaks the enemy’s oppression.
I am sure Paul and Silas had an understanding of
this which was why in Acts 16:25, 26, despite being jailed, Bible says they
praised God and the doors of the prison opened on their own accord. In 2 Chron
20, when faced with a very great battle, Jehoshaphat engaged the weapon of
praise. Bible says in verse 22 that, “And when they began to sing and to
praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount
Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.”
I understand it is very easy to praise God when your
bank account it juicy, but even if it seems like the entire world is crashing
on you, praise God because Hab 3:17-18 says, “Although the fig tree shall not
blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall
fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the
fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
When you praise God, your faith gets pumped up
because you begin to see who God truly is. Praise the Lord no matter what you
are going through, it takes your attention from the battle to the victory
because victory belongs to the Lord.
Hallelujah!
