There is a story of a young man who said his vision
in life was to use drawings as a form of entertainment. He went from newspaper
to newspaper trying to sell his cartoons but no one would give him any hearing
ears. Some even told him he should go get a better vision for his life. However,
this young man wouldn’t let go. He had it written on a paper tucked in his
pocket. Finally, a church employed him to be drawing advertising pictures for
church events.
But, this young man needed a “studio” – another way
of describing he needed a place to sleep and draw. No available room except one
little mouse infested garage owned by the church. He grabbed it and one of the
mouse became world-famous, so also the young artist. The mouse became known all
over the world as Mickey Mouse and the artist was Walt Disney. Today we have
Disneyland and Disney World because Walt Disney didn’t let his dream die.
In the book of Ezra, Zerubbabel would have given up
the rebuilding of the temple but that was his dream, as such, irrespective of
the opposition, he kept on pushing, he kept on building until he saw the
completed project. Walt Disney could have resolved to dumping his dream in the
trash can, but he didn’t, he kept on keeping on even when nothing seemed
forthcoming. I jokingly tell people that people without vision watch the ones
with vision on the television.
Blind Bartimaeus knew what he wanted, the more
people told him, “shut up,” the more he cried unto Jesus. People will say
things, “you can’t be successful doing that in this part of the world.” Listen,
I don’t care how many people have told you, “do something better with your life,”
as long as you are certain that’s what God wants you to do, I urge you, please don’t
give it up. Someday soon, you are getting celebrated.
See you at the top.
