Someone said that in Nigeria, when old friends meet
especially men, and they cannot remember each other’s name, that’s when they
call each other, “Chairman.” Naturally, humans are wired to forget, and some
are good at forgetting names (I think I am in that category too). However, I
have seen that no matter who you are, God knows your name.
In Acts 9, Saul was a very deadly man. He was always
going about seeking whom he may devour – he was devils incarnate. On his way to
Damascus, he heard someone call out his name from out of nowhere. With some
element of pride in him, he must have asked, “Who is that?” Bible says the
moment he heard it was Jesus, he was trembling and astonished. Even though, he
was not born again, God knew his name because He said in Jer 1:5a that, “before
you were formed, He knew thee.”
A songwriter said, “He knows my name, He knows my
every thought, He sees each tear that falls, and He hears me when I call.”
Maybe you are feeling forgotten all because things are not working out the way
you want them to, please relax, His name is Omniscient – the All Knowing God.
He knows your beginning and your ending. He knew your names even before your
parents thought of them.
Our God is a God that knows, sees and cares. He
knows exactly where you are, what you are going through, what you need and He
is monitoring every of your step. Jesus died not because it was fanciful but
because of you. He became poor so that you might be rich. He allowed them beat
Him so you can be sickness-free. He rose up just to go to the Father and
prepare a place for you. The governor of your city might not know you by name,
but be glad and rejoice because the one that can take the life of a governor
anytime knows your name.
Happy Easter.
