In the book
of Mark chapter 10 from verse 46 to 52, there is a story of a blind man named Bartimaeus.
Just like the woman with the issue of blood, he has also heard about Jesus and
what He could do. The moment he heard that Jesus of Nazareth was in town, he
began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. Despite
the rate at which people were asking him to keep quiet, he kept shouting and
crying and screaming, “Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.”
When Jesus
called him to His side, he asked him what he wanted. In order words, never
assume God knows, that’s why you have a mouth. Use it to express yourself unto
your God. In verse 52, Bible says And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy
faith hath made thee whole.” Can you imagine going to a doctor for malaria
treatment and the doctor saying go back home, you are made whole. Maybe blind
Bartimaeus was expecting Jesus to lay hands or legs on him, but Jesus did not
do any of these, instead, He said unto him, gentleman, go away, you are healed.
Bible says “And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the
way.”
If Bartimaeus
had not gone his way, he would have remained a blind man for the rest of his
life.
When you
believe God for a thing, it is like loading a gun with bullets and aiming the
gun at a wild animal, the animal will not die automatically if you refuse to
pull the trigger. The trigger of faith is works. Faith is more than believing.
Faith is more than thinking, talking, or having convictions about Jesus. Faith
is action. Faith is something you do. In fact, the Bible says in James 2:14,
“If people say they have faith, but do nothing, their faith is worth nothing”
(NCV).
My prayer is
the step of faith necessary to launch you into your next level will be revealed
unto you in Jesus Name. Amen!
