I read the story of a woman who always seemed to think bad guys were
prowling their home. At least once a week, she’d wake the husband up, claiming
she heard a burglar downstairs. This went on for years. Finally, one night, she
did it again and the husband followed the routine just as he has always done.
But this time, he met a real burglar who said to him, “All I want is
just your valuable.” He did exactly and handed over them to the burglar jewelry
and cash. As the burglar was about taking off, the man stopped him and said,
“Wait a minute, you can’t leave yet, you should come meet my wife upstairs.
She’s been expecting you all these years.”
Expectation, they say, is the mother of manifestation. To experience
goodness, you have to expect it, because what you expect you prepare for.
Michael Jordan said that “You must expect great things before you can do them.”
However, we live in an age where pessimism is like the in-thing. People
are always very good at seeing why it won’t work out or why it is not possible
and all. I have met several people in my life that are always like, “I am so
not sure if this is going to work.” But we have forgotten that the scripture
says God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that worketh in us.
Someone said that when you pray and you are not expecting an answer,
you are just playing. Life will give unto you whatever you expect from it. For
surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off (Prov
23:18). Expectation is crucial to your success. Miracles are delivered on the
platform of expectations.
The lame at the temple gate in Acts 3 was expecting something from
Peter (Acts 3:5) and Peter gave him what money could not buy – healing.
Your expectations shall not be aborted in Jesus Name. Amen!
