Let us examine a miracle recorded in Luke 18. I am talking about the
story of that blind man that was begging. The Bible says that Jesus was passing
by while this man was begging. It was the noise from the crowd that made the
man to ask “what is happening?”.
First thing to note here is that a prince that does not know his right
will beg.
I see this blind man as Christians who do not know their covenant
rights and, as a result, they have been placed in a beggarly position.
“Oh God, would please just heal me?” “Oh God, you can see am poor and
miserable, can you please bless me?”
No, that’s not your position in the covenant. Isaiah 43:26 tells us
that God Himself said that you should put Him remembrance of the covenant.
Wealth is your right.
When Bartimaeus heard the noise and asked what
was going on, the crowd told him “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by”. He started
shouting “Jesus, thou Son of David, have
mercy on me.
In the middle of a noisy crowd, Jesus heard a distinct voice. The
voice of someone that was ready for a miracle. The Amplified Bible says that
when Jesus heard Bartimaeus, He stood still. He stopped. “And Jesus stood, and
commanded”
Why was it the voice of that blind man alone that got Jesus’
attention? The simple answer is that the voice was the voice of faith.
When we make on demand by faith, Jesus issues a command. Jabez knew
God blesses and demanded for that blessing. He got it.
Jesus does not just drop in with miracle working power. As with
anything, He must have a faith invitation. If He doesn’t, he will pass us by. I
pray we don’t get passed by in Jesus Name. Amen!
