BITTER HONEY

In 2Kings 2:19, we read that men of the city of Jericho said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren. What a contrast?

How can the situation of a land be pleasant, yet the water is bad and the ground barren? It is quite possible.

This situation is called a situation of BUT.

Rachel was a beautiful and well favored woman, but she was barren. Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, because I bare him with sorrow.

Common, how can an honorable man be filled with sorrow. Honorable men are men who have everything needed to make life meaningful.

I know of a very rich couple who have not yet given birth even after 21 years of marriage. These people have everything a man would want; exotic cars; houses; money and influence everywhere but no child.

I used to have a very smart and intelligent friend when we were growing up who left the secondary school with 9 As. He was like our standard. We were all wishing to be as smart as this boy. He wrote JAMB and scored 250+ but he got no admission into the University until after 5 years of waiting at home.

What is that situation of but in your life? What is that situation that is a red spot on your white attire? The only way to get out of such situation is to pray your way out.  Jabez got out of his sorrow state by prayer. My friend finally had a headway in life after serious prayer.

Prayer Point: “Father, I pray that you remove every situation of but in my life today in Jesus Name”.
