THE WALKING DEAD

I recently heard of a TV series “The Walking Dead” and something struck my mind.
How can a dead person be walking? Maybe with the African belief that dead people sometimes hang around for a little while before going to heaven - what a myth!
However, I discovered that it is very possible to have dead people walking, talking and even going about normal day to day business. To be dead means no longer alive.
My own definition of a walking dead is that sane person without a specific, tangible vision for his/her life.  The essence of life is not the life itself, but the things to do with the life we have. Many of us live life the way it comes. We are so engrossed in the African mythical belief of “whatever happens has been destined” – NO SIR/MA!
Bible says in Hab 2:2 Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
The direction your life will go is dependent upon the vision you have for your life. Joseph Edward Murphy said “we go where our vision is”. Only the livings have visions, the dead don’t. So a man that is alive but has no vision could as well be called a living dead.
Sam Walton said “capital isn’t scarce, vision is”.
God has a vision and sending Jesus to die on the cross was part of the vision. It was the vision that gave Jesus hope to endure the pain and despise the shame. It got to a point Jesus was almost saying “I can’t do this no more” but when he thought about the whole picture (the vision), he said “God’s will be done”.
Wait, what is vision? Vision is your own picture of what the future is going to look like. A dead man can’t do this any more. So if you do not have a picture of what your tomorrow would look like, you are a walking dead. Vision makes living worth it.
What is your vision for your life; for your marriage; for your career; for your business; for your ministry? What do you want to become?
My prayer is that every vision will receive life in Jesus Name. Amen!
