During the
military regime in Nigeria, Africa, a certain man was travelling in a bus from
Lagos to another city. This man started telling people how the head of state as
at then was a terrible person and all. Unknowing to this man, the people around
him were mostly Army officers, instead of been taken to his destination, he was
taken into the Army barrack. I am sure you and I know that by the time he would
be released, his life would never have remained the same.
Pro 10:19 says,
“In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his
lips is wise.” Since then, I talk when it is necessary even though I find it
very hard. Maybe you are the type that cannot but tell people your plans. Do you
know that the reason why some of our plans are yet to come to fruition is
because we have said it out to men and not to God. Prov 13:3 says “He that
keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall
have destruction.”
I heard the
story of a man that won scholarship to travel abroad and none of his family
members got to know until the day he was meant to fly out. Why must you go
about telling people your plans, no wonder some of those plans don’t come to
pass. Why must you confide in a man rather than in God Almighty? My friends, I urge
you today, caution your mouth, shut it up. A talkative soldier would unknowingly
reveal the plan of his troop to the enemy.
Prov 18:7
says , “A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his
soul,” because he cannot caution himself. Refuse to be a fool, control your mouth.
If you cannot do without opening your mouth, then open your mouth and talk to
your maker. Many glorious destinies have been buried because of unbridled
tongue. My prayer for you is that your mouth will not ensnare you in Jesus
Name. Amen!
