Wisdom is defined as insight; the ability to discern or judge what is
true or right. It is the ability to see things from a perspective that many
others don’t see.
We all know the popular story in 1Kings 3 when God asked King Solomon
what he most wanted: wealth, prestige and power. What an open check? Of all the
earthly things to ask for, he chose wisdom. No wonder he said in Prov 4:7 that Wisdom
is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting
get understanding.
Godly wisdom leads to order and understanding (James 3:17).
Godly wisdom helps in living in a way that pleases God. If Solomon had
asked for earthly things, God would have given him, but am so sure he would
have mismanaged them which is why he said in Prov 16:16 that How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get
understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
Godly wisdom upon Jesus made people that listened to him in the Synagogue
in Mark 6: 2 say “what wisdom is this?” Our society has made us believe that
the vocal guy is wiser. The bible says in Prov 17:28 that a fool, when he
holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that
shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of
understanding because in the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he
that refraineth his lips is wise.
Godly wisdom helps determine when to talk and when to keep quiet. It helps
in making the right choice as to everything and anything. It lifts and
promotes. It brings honor and respect.
Jonah operated in the wisdom of the world and ended up in the belly of
a fish while King Solomon chose Godly wisdom and as result became the greatest
king that ever lived.
To be wise, fear God and ask for wisdom from above.
As you do, you will begin to operate with the wisdom of God in Jesus
Name. Amen!
