POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST

                                                             September 12, 2013

Acts 1:8 says, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”  Without the Holy Spirit, a man is just a shell without any content; or a phone casing without the real gadget inside. The Holy Spirit is our source of spiritual energy needed to be who God has made us to be.

Spiritual power is the divine energy God is willing to express in and through us and the divine authority needed to carry out the work God has called us to do. We cannot "harness" the power of the Holy Spirit. This power is not just for preachers, evangelists, or people who work in special ministry; rather, it is available to every believer who willingly surrenders moment by moment in submission and obedience to the Holy Spirit.

We cannot have the power of the Spirit in order to use God; rather we experience His power when we surrender to be used by Him. God releases His power through us as we walk in obedience to Him. This He does through the fruit of the Spirit, God's power and only God's power enables us to exhibit love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, which reveal the character of Christ in us.

The Holy Spirit Is also our empowerment for the task we are called to do.  Zech 4:6 says, “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”  God will not place you into a position or ask you to accomplish a task for which He will not fully equip and enable you.

As you fully surrender unto God, may you be a carrier of the power of the Holy in Jesus Name. Amen!
