In the book of 1 Sam 16, we read of the
story of Prophet Samuel in the home of Jesse looking for who to anoint king as
Saul’s successor. All the children of Jesse came out looking well built and
handsome. It got to the turn of Eliab, that even Prophet Samuel said, “Surely
the LORD'S anointed is before him,” but God refused him.
After the seven children had done campaign
and none won, Verse 11 says, “And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy
children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he
keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will
not sit down till he come hither.” David was in the bush tending the sheep as
it was his practice, however, his entire family and a man of God remained
standing because of David. It was in the middle of doing what he loved doing
best that he was divinely picked for the next level.
Joseph was a dream interpreter, and even
while in the prison, he was still interpreting dreams until he divinely picked
for the next level. He could have given up on the dreaming career, after all, it
was a dream that got him sold into Egypt, but he did not until it paid off. If
you would abide in your calling and never waiver, power will soon change hands
and it will become your turn.
Don’t get tired, I know you have been at it
for long, but keep on keeping at it, don’t stop, don’t give up, don’t back out,
just keep at it, God is watching and He will not allow you to labor in vain. Pro
22:29 says, “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before
kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” The only thing you must do is to
ensure you abide in your calling. Don’t
get distracted or frustrated, keep on abiding in your calling, because soon and
very soon, you are getting called to the top.
