One of God’s
area of expertise is putting laughter in the mouths of His people. Psa
126:1&2 says, “When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were
like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue
with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things
for them.”
God did not
create us to weep or sorrow. Weeping signifies sorrow while laughter signifies
rejoicing. We were created to always rejoice, which was why when Jesus saw Mary
the sister of Lazarus weeping and the Jews also. Bible says in John 11:33 that
Jesus groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, and He wept. To restore the
Lazarus’s family to God’s original intent of rejoicing, Jesus rose up Lazarus
thereby putting laughter in the mouths of the Lazarus’ family and well-wishers.
In 1Sam
2:9-18, prayer turned the tide for Hannah and suddenly the same set of people who
laughed at her was also among those that laughed with her. I don’t care why
people are always laughing at you, the tide is turning right away and they will
begin to laugh with you in Jesus Name. The widow in 2Kings 4 was always crying
because the creditor said he is coming to take unto him her two sons to be
bondmen. God had to quickly send Elisha to her, her testimony was, “once I was
owing, now I am owed.” She could laugh.
Laughter is good.
Bible compares it to medicine. But not everybody can be privileged to have it. As
much as Jabez loved to laugh, he could not because he was perpetually
surrounded by sorrow, but because God is not glorified in the casting down of
our head, He fixed Jabez’ issue and laughter became his portion forever. For a
reader of this devotional, as a result of what God will do for you this month,
you shall laugh the best in Jesus Name. Amen!
