In the book
of Joshua 6:25, Bible says, “And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her
father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto
this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.”
Rahab was kind towards the men that went to spy the land in Joshua 2. She
protected them by hiding them in the roof of her house and also let them down
by a cord through the window.
In the book
of 2Kings 4:8-37, a certain woman in Shunem persuaded Elisha to eat some food
and as often as he passed. At a point, the woman told her husband, “Let us even
give this man a permanent room in our house that whenever he is in town, he
stays in there.” As a result of this woman’s kindness, she gave birth even
after losing hope. And even when the baby died, Elisha ensured the baby came
back to life.
In 2 Sam 9:7,
Bible says, “And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee
kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of
Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.” Mephibosheth’s
status changed because of the kindness of his father towards David.
Kindness
creates a smooth path for favor and honor to travel. You might not benefit
today, but it might be that your act of kindness today is what would save your
child’s life tomorrow. Prov 3:27 says, “Withhold not good from them to whom it
is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.” Eph 4:32 says, “And be
ye kind one to another.”
As much as
possible, look for an opportunity to show kindness unto someone today and as
you do so, God Almighty will reward you exceedingly in Jesus Name. Amen!
