A veterinary doctor friend shared a story of a dog
that was brought to her clinic with fractured hind limb. The owner of the dog lives
on the second floor of a 2-storey building. Suddenly, some birds came and were
doing flight stunts which thrilled the poor dog. The dog started chasing them. After a while, the birds jumped and flew away,
the dog must have also thought it could fly too, jumped up and flew only to
land on the ground with a broken leg luckily for him. This story made me
realize why many are frustrated, unfulfilled and depressed.
Someone said, the best you can be trying to be like
someone else is second best. It is so sad that most of us now live
competitively, and this is gradually sapping our creative abilities and natural
talents away. I discovered that most of the people who lived great lives in the
Bible never tried living like someone else. The day a snake starts copying an
eagle is the day it stops living. Apostle Paul said in 1 Thess 4:11a (MSG)
that, “Stay calm; mind your own business; do your own job.”
Why should you be ridiculing God by comparing
yourself with another man, when God has said what He has in stock for you is
what no eyes hath ever seen; no ears ever heard and no man ever thought about
it? 2 Cor 10:12 (ESV) says, “Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves
with some of those who are commending themselves. But when they measure
themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are
without understanding.”
We all have our different mission to fulfill here on
earth, and until you stop competing and start living your own life, you will
never fulfill destiny. You have such great potential, but if you refuse to take
yourself serious and stop copying someone else, you will die like an ordinary
human.
Be real!
