The scripture says that love is the fulfilment of
the commandments. In other words, other commandments hang on love. If you truly
love God, you won’t steal what doesn’t belong to you because you are aware of
the commandment that states that, “Thou shall not steal.” This is why the
Apostle John said in 1 John 4:7 that, “He who doesn’t practice love doesn’t
know God, because God is love.” But I have seen that, “I love you” is one of
the most said statements you hear around these days. Most people are very quick
to say it, but the truth of the matter is that love is mostly expressed in
action and not always in words. It is easier said than done.
When you look at the life of Jesus, you would
understand what it truly means to love because the Master demonstrated what
love means. Because of love, He healed the sick (Matt 14:14), fed the hungry
(Mar 6:30-44), and most importantly died for an unknown sin but known reward.
Most unbelievers would get to know the extent of the love of Christ for them
through a believer’s expression of love towards them. We are Christ’
representatives here on earth, so we must use every opportunity we have to
showcase Christ to people.
1 John 3:17 says, “But whoso hath this world's good,
and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from
him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” Love shares, love gives and
sacrifices. You cannot love God and say unto thy neighbour, “Go, and come
again, and tomorrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.” (Prov 3:28) You
might not have everything, but you have something. “Withhold not good from them
to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.” (Prov 3:27)
Be a smile giver today, a hope restorer and a true
expression of Christ’ love to humans.
Keep soaring!
