THE OVERCOMER

December 6, 2013

To overcome means to subdue, surmount, prevail, triumph, conquer or take control. God created us to be overcomers. Jesus said in John 16:33b that, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” The only set of people assured of sitting with Jesus are overcomers as written in Rev 3:21 that, “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”

We must understand that the only person that has the assurance of overcoming whatever and whoever tries to block him from moving forward is that person that is joined to Christ. 1 John 5:4 says, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” Because, for those set of people, greater is he that is in them, than he that is in the world.

This is the understanding that the seven sons of Sceva lacked. They had no connection or relationship with the person of Jesus. Bible says in Acts 19:16 that, “the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.” Had it been that they were connected to Jesus, they would have become overcomers.

The moment Apostle Paul made a switch from the kingdom of darkness to that of light; he became an overnight overcomer so much that his handkerchiefs and aprons became healing capsules for the diseased and the possessed.

Rev 12:11a says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb,” listen to me; as long as you are connected to Jesus, you remain an overcomer for life. However, sin is an invitation to reproach and molestation and defeat. Embrace holiness and I decree, you shall remain an overcomer in Jesus Name. Amen!
