One common
desire of all humans irrespective of the color, race, religion or gender is
promotion. No man wants to stay on the same spot for years not progressing,
which is why some become slaves for their boss just so they could pity them and
promote them. Some keep looking up to their rich uncle or aunt in expectation
of something. However, I have discovered that the only person worth looking up
to for promotion is the Almighty.
The Psalmist
said in Psalm 121:1&2 that, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from
whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and
earth.” David wrote that part because he understood that no man has the power
to lift up if the Lord does not sanction it. He was an ordinary shepherd boy
who was as a matter of hierarchy the least in his family to be ever considered
for the post of a King’s right hand man not to talk of becoming a King.
However, because God had ordained David’s lifting, even prophet Samuel
(prophets are more respected than kings then) had to remain standing just
because someone’s time to be lifted has come.
Listen, Bible
says in Psalm 75:6 that, “For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from
the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth
up another.” Sir/ma, the only person to look up to for promotion is God because
whenever He says YES, I tell you, no man can ever say NO. Bulk of the time, the
man that makes another man is source is always perfumed with shame because Prov
3:35 says, “The wise (the man that trusts the Lord completely) shall inherit
glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools (the man that says there is no
God and then decided to make man His source).
Remember the
man you are looking up to is also looking up to God. Be wise!
