IT’S NOT OVER YET – 2

March 13, 2014

In Ezekiel 37, the place where the man of God was taken to was a graveyard, a place where typically, only dead things were found there. A symbol of people without hope for any comeback. The symbolism is of- a people- whose hope- has died- and has been dead- for- a long time. The prophet looked at the bones and I’m sure he would have shaken his head in despair of the level of hopelessness of those bones.

God asked him, “Can these bones live again?” Ezekiel said there seems to be no human solutions- for this hope-less situation for they are very dry and said "Lord- you know". He said that because he knew the situation was out of human’s control and beyond human comprehension.

However, the moment God said, “Prophet, its not over, speak life,” that was the beginning of glory for those hopeless and dead bones. It doesn’t matter how hopeless or dry your situation is, listen and listen good, IT IS NOT OVER YET UNTIL YOU SHINE. Jarius thought it was over - his daughter was dead - but God hadn’t said it was over. The man at the pool of Bethesda thought it was over because he couldn’t make it into the water, but God didn’t say it was over.

Everyone thought it was over for Daniel when he was thrown into the lion’s den, but God didn’t say it was. Nebuchadnezzar thought it would be over for Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego, but God said it wasn’t over. Job’s wife thought it was over and encouraged her husband to curse God and die, but the Lord didn’t say it was over. Sir, it isn’t over until God Says It’s Over!

I don’t know WHAT the future holds...but I state with complete certainty that I know WHO holds the future and because you are alive and reading this, it is not over yet! You are coming out! You are getting back up! You are rising up again! Shout Hallelujah!

IT’S NOT OVER YET

March 12, 2014

The book of John 11 has the records of the sickness and death of Lazarus – Jesus’ friend. At first, he got sick, his sisters quickly informed Jesus about it, but the Master said, “his sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.” Few days later, Lazarus gave up the ghost, yet Jesus didn’t show up. After four days of Lazarus being in the grave, Jesus showed up.

Immediately Martha saw Him, she said (angrily I perceive), “Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.” A whole lot of us are like Martha, we have been looking unto God for many things. We have even done as we are instructed to call unto Him, yet it seems Jesus didn’t “show” up. Some of us have been fasting, yet there seems “no show.” We have things written down in the form of prayer requests, and right now, it’s looking like all hope is gone.

However, I have come to understand that Jesus might not show up when you want Him to, He shows up when God can get the glory. Martha was never thinking in her mind that her brother would ever live. When Jesus told her, “Thy brother shall rise again.” I am sure she would have laughed scornfully before saying, “Yes you are right, but that is in the last day.” Even when Jesus said the tomb should be opened, she said, “Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.” In order words, don’t bother.

However, I need you to understand that IT IS NEVER OVER UNTIL YOU ARE SETTLED. Listen, Bible says after death is judgment, but Lazarus’s judgment was suspended because it was not yet over for him. Jesus Christ that handled Lazarus’s case is still the same so I decree concerning someone, this year shall not end until God is glorified in your situation in Jesus Name. Amen!

I AM NOT FORGOTTEN

March 11, 2014

On the morning of October 29, 2012, hundreds of thousands of people in portions of the Caribbean and the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States faced their worst nightmare - “Superstorm Sandy.” Families everywhere, especially in hard hit New Jersey and New York, were jolted out of normalcy and the comfort and security of the homes and communities they once knew.

I am sure some of them would have thought that their world was ended, but because there is a God up there who never forgets nor abandons His own people, He made strangers be of help to Superstorm Sandy’s victims. Suddenly, the world arose and from various angles, help started coming in for the victims of Superstorm Sandy.

In Isa 49, God's people sat in darkness, they were hungry and thirsty, praying for deliverance and comfort. Verse 14 says, “"But Zion said, The Lord hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me" Immediately God responded by saying, ““Can a woman forget her nursing child, or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hand.”

There is nothing you are going through that God is not aware of. Don’t throw in the towel yet, hang on a little more; God is working on your case. He is not a man that can forget. The widow of Zarephath thought she was forgotten but God proved to her that she wasn’t forgotten by sending the prophet to her home. God showed Rachael that she wasn’t forgotten by opening her womb even when she least expected.

You are not forgotten. God has not forsaken thee. He has you written on the palms of His hand! Your case is not closed yet. Your situation is not over yet. Your life is not done with yet. God is working on your case. You are not forgotten because He knows your name. Yes You!

PREPARE FOR RAIN

March 10, 2014

There is a tale of two farmers who desperately needed rain. It was already planting season, yet no single rain had fallen. They both went to God to ask for rain. Farmer 1 started waking up very early each day to monitor the sky in expectation of rain. He had a plan to cultivate the land and plant the moment it rained.

Farmer 2 on the hand had a different approach. The moment he finished asking God for the rain, he hired laborers to cultivate the land and even went ahead to plant. On the day he finished planting, the rain came.

Honestly, God is so much interested in your wellbeing, but you have to do your part for God to do His. Peter had to throw the net before catching such number of fishes. Had he continued to complain to Jesus about how he has been toiling all night without catching anything, he would still have caught nothing. God will send the rain when He is ready. All you do is to prepare your fields to receive it.

"Prepare For Rain" is a metaphor from the movie – “Facing The Giants” that is intended to bring about an attitude of trust and faith in God. That man told the coach, “God will send the rain, but you need to prepare to receive it.” God will bless you, but you need to prepare to receive it.  That’s where faith comes in. It helps in preparing to receive one’s expectation(s).

Some of us, our actions are in opposite direction of our desires. Some of us are like a man expecting a very important phone call and then decides to switch off his cell phone. A Malay proverb says, “Prepare the umbrella before it rains.” Rain is coming. Abundance is around the corner. Relief is a few yards away. Deliverance is just some few minutes away. Breakthrough is about to happen. You are about to shine. But are you prepared?

Prepare prayerfully, mentally and physically. You are next in line for a miracle!

TRUTH

March 9, 2014

An African proverb says, “If lies keep going on and on for twenty years, one day someday, truth will catch up with it.” Prov 12:19b says, “but a lying tongue is but for a moment.”  It is a taboo for some people to tell the truth. They are walking lies. However, I have discovered that telling the truth is sweet because you don’t have to remember anything whereas you must remember the lie you told so the truth doesn't come out.

In the book of Acts 5, in verses 1-2, Bible says, “But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, and kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.” Just so that some people do not lack, there was a free will offering going on where people who had land sold it and brought the money to the Apostle’s to distribute to the needy.

However, one family (husband and wife for that matter), sold a possession and kept back a portion and lied that was the total amount they sold the possession. As a result of that lie, both the man and the wife died publicly.  Why didn’t they just say, “We sold it for $1000 but we can freely give $500.” Also, if nor for mercy, Abraham would have lost Sarah to Pharaoh and Abimelech on two different occasions for lying that Sarah was his sister.

Someone said it takes one thousand lies to keep one lie going. You don’t need all that trouble. In Prov 6, Bible says six things doth the Lord hate and second on that of the list is a lying tongue. As Christ-like, let’s always tell the truth the same way Jesus would no matter what. Eph 4:25 says, “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.” A lying tongue is a dying soul. Beware.

Enjoy God afresh today!

KEEP MOVING

March 8, 2014

There is a story of a king who had a very beautiful daughter. As it was in that land, to marry the king’s daughter, you must participate in a particular competition. In this particular case, the competition was for the interested men to walk across a small river that had crocodiles in it.

Suddenly, there was this young man that was seen jetting across the river over those crocodiles. The moment he got to the other side of the river, he looked back and fainted. When he was brought back to life and asked, how he was able to do that. “I was waiting to see who would be the first to go, when someone suddenly pushed me,” was the man’s response.

Every mountain has a top. Every problem has a life span. The question is who is going to give in first? Life is not the way it is supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference. No matter what the majority say, there’s always a way.  Prov 24:10 says If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

Peter had never walked on water before, but the moment he stepped in, the water was cold, it was a strange feeling, it had never been done before, but Peter kept going, the moment he stopped moving, he started sinking. I have come to tell you that no matter where you find yourself, the most dangerous thing to do is to stop, you have to keep moving. Ron Kenoly said, “if you are going through hell, don’t stop.”

You were created to succeed. You were designed to be great. Don’t give in to fear. Keep on going. Keep on pushing. Keep on moving. What saves a man is to take a step, then another step. You are very close to the finish line to give up now. No matter your speed, you are still faster than those sitting on the couch.

See you at the top.

START SOMEWHERE

March 7, 2014

Someone said that Rome wasn’t built in a day. One of the reasons why so many people are not living the life they have been created to live is because they are not willing to take the small steps placed before them. Many would say, “I want it big.” It is not a crime to want it big but there is no crime in starting small.

All of God’s great people in the Bible were faithful in the small things. In Matthew 25, when Jesus was talking about the parable of talents, He said the master would say to the servant that had multiplied his master’s money, “The master said, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let's celebrate together! (NLT)”

In Zech 4:10a, the Bible says, “For who hath despised the day of small things?” There is power in taking small steps. Small steps lead to big destinations. Maybe you are at a point where you do not know what God wants you to do, don’t worry, “Just Do Something.” Grow wherever you are planted. Climbing the ladder starts with a small step. As you keep climbing, you will be able to see much farther.

Robert Schuller said, “Winning starts with beginning.” Start somewhere. The man that’s going on a 6 hours journey knows full well that he has to start somewhere. I know greatness lies on the inside of you, but you need to activate it by starting somewhere. Many people don’t succeed because they are too afraid to even try. They do not begin due to the fear of failure.

Don’t be afraid to take small steps. Don’t wait until you have all the millions, start somewhere. Take a step today towards your goal. The endpoint seem far and unreachable only because you have not even taken the first step, once you take the first step, you are more than halfway there.

Are you ready? On your mark, set, go!

CHILL PILL

March 6, 2014

The most natural thing to do whenever we are provoked to anger is to give it to the person while it’s still very hot. There is a Nigerian slang that says, “As e dey hot,” meaning while it is still hot. In order words, don’t cool it down. Fire for fire! Give it back to the person with the same measure you were given.

In the book of Exo 32:19, Bible says, “And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.” Moses spent days on the mountain without food just so he could get the blueprint of God’s commandment for the children of Israel and the moment he got down and saw them messing up, he destroyed the commandments.

Jokingly, someone said Moses was the first person to break the commandments of God. Anyways, I have discovered that most times, relationships break not because there was or there is still no love, but because of how either of the parties involved handle their emotions especially when hurt. I understand that the most difficult thing to do is to take a chill pill when the other person is busy raining down fire and brimstones on you, but I tell you – if only you would try and swallow the bitter chill pill at that moment, you would realize that you would earn more respect.

Ecc 7:9 says, “Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools,” but even Prov 17:28 says, “Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.” When next someone gets on your nerve, don’t be quick to react, or vent, just take a chill pill. Eph 4:31 says, “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you.”

GOT A GOAL?

March 5, 2014

Life becomes meaningful when there is a goal and even more meaningful when the goal is documented. Goals energize us to keep going even when the going gets very tough. During childbirth, a woman would ordinarily want to just take it cool but remembering that there is a baby that needs to come out, she continues screaming and pushing towards the ultimate goal.

The most miserable person on earth is that man/woman without clear and written goal(s). Hab 2:2b says, “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” Writing the vision down is the act of goal setting. A goal you don’t set, you don’t get. When you keep a vision in your mind, it is nothing more than a dream, but the moment you have it written down, it becomes a goal.

Many people are living life the way it comes because they really do not have any clear cut goal(s). In Luke 22:42, our Lord and Savior got so overwhelmed about everything that He said, “Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me,” however, when He remembered the ultimate goal, He said, “not my will, but thine be done.”

There is power in putting that dream on paper. Writing it on paper is like signing a contract with another man, whenever you feel like doing the wrong thing, the contract terms automatically makes you do the right thing. As Holy and Great God is, He still had to put down His vision for us in writing through the Bible. He could have relied on the Holy Ghost alone, but He didn’t.

What is your vision for your life; home; ministry; write it down. I don’t know how big or small your goal (s) is or are, put them down on paper then place the goal where you can always see it, that way, your subconscious starts working on how to get to the finish line and starts dishing out creative ideas into your mind.

See you at the top!

DON’T BLEND IN

March 4, 2014

It is a proven fact that majority, many times, is a group of highly motivated crawlers. The fact that a million learned professors say something foolish doesn’t make it sensible – it is still foolish. The problem with many people is that they prefer to live their life the way others want it lived rather than live it the way they choose to live it.

As Christians, we are not made to blend in; we were created to stand out. 1 Pet 2:9 says, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” There is something different about you and that is your own uniqueness.

The day a fish starts trying to behave like a pig just so it could blend in, that day it becomes a recipe for pepper soup. There should be something different about you. In Mark 6, it is a custom that teachings take place in the synagogue on the Sabbath day, however, on the day Jesus taught, many who heard Him became so astonished that hey said, “what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?”

Had Jesus tried speaking like John the Baptist, He would never have stood out. Don’t let the opinions of majority persuade or dissuade you, let your belief be your motivating factor. David refused to blend in when he went to fight Goliath with just a sling and a stone. Be a pioneer and don’t blend in – stand out tall.

Be real; be yourself. Don’t try to become someone else; that is like committing suicide. One advice I got sometimes ago and that has been a great one for me is; “Never take direction for your personal life from the crowd and never choose to discontinue just because someone disagrees with you.”

PRIDE

March 2, 2014

The story is told of two ducks and a frog that lived happily together in a farm pond. The best of friends, the three would amuse themselves and play together in their waterhole. When the hot summer days came, however, the pond began to dry up, and soon it was evident they would have to move. This was no problem for the ducks because they could easily fly to another pond.

But the frog was stuck. So it was decided that they would put a stick in the bill of each duck that the frog could hang onto with his mouth as they flew to another pond. The plan worked well--so well, in fact, that as they were flying along a farmer looked up in admiration and mused, "Wow, isn't that a clever idea! I wonder who thought of it?"

The frog heard the farmer and at that point opened its mouth and said, "I did..." He fell down and died. Prov 11:2 says, “When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.”  1Pe 5:5 says, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”

Pride is the death of the soul. It tells us that we are the author of our own fortunes and destinies; owners rather than stewards of Creation; that we are competitors rather than neighbors to others. Mat 23:12 tells us that, “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

What do you have that God did not give? Who have you become that is outside of the knowledge of God? Remember, Jas 4:6 says, “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” Lucifer fell because of pride. In all thy asking, ask for the grace to be humble always.

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS NOT YOUR BURDENS

March 1, 2014

A lot of us go through life everyday complaining about one thing or the other. Not enough money; dry weather; stubborn children; unloving husband; rude wife; low paying job etc. One thing that I don’t have to be a prophet to know is that there are one million and one things to complain about. As a matter of fact, one thing you can never run out of is a reason to complain.
This attitude has so much eaten deep into us that we sometimes refuse to give God thanks for the tiniest thing like being able to eat – we feel, it is a normal thing.

1 Thess 5:18 says, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Despite all that happened to Brother Job, he still had reasons to thank God. Someone said thank God for dirty dishes, it means while other folks go hungry, you are eating pretty well. Another person said thank God for that one pair of shoes, some set of people wish they have legs. Thank God for that stubborn child, some would give all they have to have one.

Stop reflecting on what God has not done; be grateful for that which He has done. The attitude of thanking God today guarantees a better tomorrow. I urge you to replace regrets with gratitude. Count your blessings not your burdens. Be grateful for what you have, not regretful for what you have not. One way or the other, something good has happened to you. Millions didn’t make it thus far, but here you are standing strong.

Someone said that if you can’t be thankful for what you have, be thankful for what you have escaped. When you count all your blessings, you will always show a profit. If the only prayer you say in your life is “Thank You Lord,” that would suffice. I need you to understand that the more you complain, the less you will obtain.

PRAYER

February 28, 2014

Two fishermen were trapped in a storm in the middle of a lake. There was no rescue boat in sight neither were there other fishermen around to help them. One turned to the other and asked, “Should we say our final prayer of should we keep on rowing?” His wise companion looked at him, smiled and said, “Let’s do both.”

In 1 Sam 1, the story of Hannah was told. She was loved by her husband but she had no child.  One day, she got so tired of her state that she went to Shiloh to pray differently. Bible says the prayer was so different that a whole prophet who could discern thought she was drunk. The moment she finished praying, Bible says when she got home, her husband knew her and she conceived Samuel.

It is so sad that this is a microwave generation; fast food; fast cash; fast cars; and that is why we do fast prayers. Someone said do some deep praying so you will not find yourself in a deep hole. Martin Luther said, “The less I pray, the harder it gets; the more I pray, the better it gets.” Sir, it is impossible to be prayerful and still be pessimistic at the same time, because, you are assured that when you ask, you receive.

Bible says when Hannah finished praying, her countenance changed and that was the same day she conceived. Prayer is not the last option when all else have failed; NO. It is the first and the last thing you do at all times. Luke 18:1 says, “That men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” There is no better use of your time than to pray whenever you have an opportunity to do so; either alone or with others; while at work, while at rest, or while walking down the street. Anywhere!

Is there any particular situation you have been battling with, take it to God in prayer because prayer changes things.

THE GOD FACTOR

February 27, 2014

A scientist blurted out one day, “I don’t need God, and there is no difference between Him and myself.” He went to God and said, “God, I’d like to prove to you that I need you not. There is nothing you can do that I can’t. I can make eye balls; spare body parts etc.” God looked at him at him and said, “Ok, make man afresh from the dust of the earth.” Immediately, the scientist started gathering dusts.” God called him and said, “No, make your own dust.” The scientist unknowingly shouted, “Good God.”

Psa 3:6 says, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Most times the reason why many projects fail is because we so much trust our own wisdom or we believe in the ability of our partners or family members, however, I have discovered that no one is nothing without God. Moses knew this very well which was why he said in Exo 33:15 that, “And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.”

Someone said that when God is involved in the race of a man, He surely must win that race. Psa 127:1 says, “Except the LORD builds the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” God is the one that gives unto man the power to be.

The God factor is the greatest factor – it is the influence of God that brings about our desired outcome. Nehemiah finished a wall that has been destroyed for years in 52 days – this was quite impossible with man but as written in Neh 6:16, “for they (the enemies of Nehemiah) perceived that this work was wrought of our God.” In order words, God was involved.

There must always be a God-factor in all we do else, we would end up failing. Never say, it was all ME! Who are you? It is all GOD!

DEVELOP THAT GIFT/TALENT

February 26, 2014

Most people suffer their major heart attack on Mondays between 8am and 9am because they have to go to a job they don’t like and as such they are dying gradually. There are some set of people whose slang on Fridays is – TGIF. This ought not to be. One of the most neglected areas in many lives is the area of gifts that God has placed within them.

In Matt 25, we all know the story of the talents. Bible says and unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several abilities. The one that got five traded with his and make 100% ROI, so also the one that got two talents, but the one that got one hid his own and as such, what he had was taken from him and he was cast away.

When we get to heaven, you won’t be asked how much you made for your employer, rather, how did you use the talents/gifts God deposited in you? It is so amazing how so many of us devote our entire lives to a field of endeavor or profession that has nothing to do with our inborn talents. Someone said that if you don’t do your own dream, someone else would employ you to do theirs – which is the case with most of us. We spend our days helping others reach their goals while abandoning ours.

There are people waiting to be affected by what God has deposited in you. Don’t allow any man take over the driver’s seat of your destiny. Don’t die an unlived life. Live a mark. Sir, Prov 18:16 says, “A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” Facebook is a household name everywhere because Mark Zuckerberg did his dream. Choose today to exercise your unique, God-given, God-ordained talents. Salaries would make you rich; talents would make you wealthy and great. Be wise!

I look forward to seeing you at the next annual world CEOs forum.

DON’T CAVE IN

February 25, 2014

Many times when we are faced with challenges and difficulties, the most natural thing to do is to back out. For some people, that is the time to say, “If you can’t beat them, you join them.” However, I have a different opinion as I have realized that life obeys the persistent man/woman.

In Gen 32, 24-32, Jacob wrestled with a man over the night – that’s like 8 hours of non-stop battle. To make matters worse, Jacob’s thigh got out of joint which would have made movement uneasy for him, yet he kept singing, “I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.” Naturally, he should have surrendered because of his dislocated thigh but he knew that whoever keeps at it succeeds at it. As a result, his name was changed to Israel and on top, he got blessed by God.

There is an old saying that, “when fate throws a dagger at you, there are two ways to catch it; either by the blade or by the handle.” Catch the dagger by the blade and it may hurt you or even cut off your hand, but if you catch it by the handle, you can use it to fight your way through. When faced with a big obstacle, that’s not the time to start crying and wailing, that is the time to get your fighting spirit ready for battle.

What obstacle are you battling with and it seems it won’t go away, remember, Jericho as tall and strong as it was fell because of the persistent walk around it and the shout of Hallelujah, please I know holding on seems the most difficult thing to do, but remember that had Jacob let go, his name would never have been changed.

Don’t give up on your dream yet; don’t give up on that marriage; don’t give up on that career; there is a trophy to be won and it has your name engraved on it, so keep on keeping on. I look forward to receiving your celebration invitation.

WATCH WHAT YOU SAY – 2

February 24, 2014

A store boy was asked by an elderly lady, “Can I buy a half loaf of bread?” The boy walked to the Manager’s office, not realizing that the old lady followed him. He said to the manager, “Sir, can you imagine one old bag asking if she could buy a half loaf of bread?” The manager could not respond and this made the boy sense something strange.

The boy turned around and saw the elderly lady right behind him, quickly he added, “And there is this other fine old lady who would like to buy the other half.” The old lady who had already raised her walking stick up waiting for the boy to turn towards her and hit him on the head, smiled and walked away.

In the book of Ezekiel 37 when the prophet found himself in the valley of dry bones, the dry bones might never have become living souls, had the man of God not open his mouth to prophecy. Have you ever thought of why the doctor would ask you to stick out your tongue whenever you are not feeling well? Your tongue reveals what’s going on inside of you – both physically and spiritually. I tell people that the direction of their lives is set by the tongue.

Sometimes some of us jokingly say things like; “I am doomed,”  “foolish me” etc. whether we like it or not, believe it or not, those words are seeds, and seeds germinate. Consciously watch what you say. Stop cursing your wife. Stop saying negative things. Start saying scriptural things. Use your tongue to shape your world. Use your tongue to say what you want to become in life. Heaven and earth came into being by spoken words.

Someone said confession is the mother of possession, no wonder Romans 4:17 says, “Calling those things which be not as though they were.” You can change your world by changing your words... Remember, death and life are in the power of the tongue. Tame your tongue.

YOU ARE NOT AN ORDINARY MAN

February 23, 2014

In the book of Judges 6, Bible says that the Midianites prevailed against the Israelites so much that whenever the Israelites sowed and it was time to harvest, the Midianites would come and destroy their harvests.

When the time came for them to be rescued, an angel appeared to a young man by the name Gideon and said to him, “The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valor, you have been chosen to deliver Israel.” Immediately the man heard this, he got furious and replied, “Me, this small me, maybe you don’t know Lord, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.” He had so many reasons why he couldn’t become great.

Thank God for mercy, Gideon would have ended his life as a nobody. So many times we dream big but play it small because each time we want to launch out, there is something telling us that; my parents aren’t wealthy; I am not academically qualified; I do not have the right connection and as such we give up and die as ordinary men.

Today, I have just a message for you that – YOU ARE NOT AN ORDINARY MAN. Just like Gideon, I have come to inform you that it doesn’t matter where you were given birth to or who gave birth to you; you are not an ordinary man. You are not a nobody. Rom 8:19 says “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”

The world is waiting for you to release that song; the world wants to read your book; men are eager to buy your inventions; kings want to hear you speak; sir, do away with fear of whatever and go manifest. Someone said that the graveyard is the most talented place as there are unsung songs, unwritten books and so many unfulfilled dreams lying there. May you not contribute to the richness of the graveyard.

WHAT DO YOU WANT?

February 22, 2014

A young man stopped a prophet who was known for never saying No, and said, “I want to go places. I want to get somewhere. How do I do it?” The prophet was interested in helping the man, so he said, “I really do want to help you but I need to know, where exactly do you want to go?” The young man replied after some minutes of silence, “Well, I really can’t tell for now, but I just want to go somewhere.” I am sure the young man is still on that same spot.

In the book of Matt 20:30-34, two blind men were following Jesus and asking for mercy. People were telling them to keep quiet but they wouldn’t. Finally their cry of mercy attracted Jesus’ attention, so He stopped. Ordinarily, one would expect that Jesus would just say, “Thine eyes be opened,” but He didn’t, rather, He asked, “What do you want?” I am sure some people would have said within themselves, “what else would blind men have wanted?”

But thank God those blind men were sensitive enough in asking and they received their sights. Many believers are going about the same mountain for years because they feel, “After all God knows what is wrong with me, so He should fix me.” You are right, God knows all, but remember He instructed us in Matt 7:7-8 that, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

Your mouth is not to curse and abuse and gossip and talk heresies and fallacies, it is to be used in making your request known unto the Father through Jesus. So, I ask you, what do you want this day, week, month and year, why don’t you open your mouth and tell God those things? Remember Num 14:28 says, “As ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you.”

Have a refreshing weekend.
